DONUTS FOR YOU!

What could be better than eating a crème-filled donut? Reading a cute story about one? No, reading a donut story and eating one at the same time!

Here's your chance. My story, "The Bavarian Krisp Caper", is half price today, in celebration of National Crème-Filled Donut Day. (What a great celebration!)

And, if you leave a comment here and tell me what your favorite donut is, you have a chance to win a certificate for not one, but a dozen! Your choice, Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts.  AND your pick of any story at Untreed Reads, my marvelous publisher who is sponsoring this event.

What are you waiting for? Can't pick your favorite donut? Then pick mine, Bavarian Kreme by Dunkin Donuts.

  1. My favorite kind of donut is plain old fashioned, because the donut flavor comes out the most for me when there isn't any icing to compete with it. I like tea, not coffee, and plain donuts pair really well with tea, so it's good all around.

  2. This time of year I like Dunkin Donuts pumpkin donuts. They go great with a hot cup of decaf on a crisp fall day when the mums are in bloom and the leaves on the trees are changing color.

  3. My seasonal favorite is the cider donut at Uncle John's Cider Mill in St. Johns Michigan. On the road, the raspberry filled Krispy Kreme is heavenly although I can feel my hips expanding with each delicious bite. It was both a good thing and a bad thing when the Krispy Kreme near me closed!

  4. We left early for a drive to the mountains. Cindy fell asleep before we were out of our own county. I drove on enjoying contemplative moments and watching the world wake up. After 4 hours, I needed to stretch and trade out for some fresh coffee. She woke up just as I hit the exit ramp.
I said "You know what would be perfect? If just around this corner there was a Krispy Kreme shop and the light was on."

There has hardly ever been a donut that tasted as good as that soft, hot, sweet original Krispy Kreme.

  5. Mmmm...My favorite donut is chocolate-covered CUSTARD-filled donuts. At church, the adults warn the little children not to stand between me and the donuts if there are custard-filled ones in there. lol!

  7. I'm for almost all kinds of doughnuts at any time. My husband brought home snickers doughnuts with caramel filling, nuts, and chocolate--awesome.

    Congrats on the story!

  9. Doughnuts are truly the one food I can't resist. I can't go near them because one is never enough. I usually call them Do-Nots because if I want to be healthy I Do Not eat them. LOL! Although some in my family would say any doughnut is my favorite, my true favorite is the kind with the strawberry icing with sprinkles. Actually it looks exactly like the one you have pictured on your blog.

  11. My favorite doughtnut since I was a little girl has been Dunkin Donuts Bavarian Keme filled donuts. I haven't had one in a long time. Just hearing about your story made me think about them. I can't wait to dig to both your story and a donut!

  12. My mother was a terrible cook, but she made killer donuts. Fried them in peanut oil. My favorite? A cake donut with cinnamon sugar.

  13. I agree with Brother Pete--there is nothing like the discovery of a Krispy Kreme for what a doughnut should be--but the ones I will always remember are the scent of the doughnut shop in Kennedy Airport when I was a child picking up my dad from one of his semi-frequent trips. It didn't even matter what flavor they were.

They meant that daddy was home.

  14. That's mine, too, Linda. Lesley, I'd never turn down a cinnamon sugar donut and cake is my favorite. Jenny, what a sweet story! Love it.

  15. Hi Kaye! Congratulations on your story, I look forward to reading it! My favorite brand of donuts are Dunkin Donuts. Why? When I was little, my parents would drive us 22 hours straight from the midwest to the coast of Florida, Cocoa Beach. It was our only trip of the year and we so looked forward to it. I came from a small country town with no fast food restaurants, gas stations, or even grocery stores, so it was a real treat to reach the coast. My Dad would always get up early at the hotel, and walk to Dunkin Donuts to bring us back a delicous treat. I had to fight my sisters for the jelly filled, but usually had to settle for chocolate long johns if I lost! Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
